Great by Choice: Uncertainty, Chaos, and Luck--Why Some Thrive Despite Them by James Collins (2011)
Collins explores why some companies thrive in times of uncertainty and chaos and others don’t. The book reports on nine years of research and looks at not just performance, but also the unstable environments in which the successful companies were able to thrive. The findings include surprising results, such as, the successful leaders were not more risk taking, and innovation was not the “trump card,” that people might expect.
Coaching for Leadership The Practice of Leadership Coaching from the World’s Greatest Coaches, Marshall Goldsmith and Lawrence S. Lyons (Eds.)
This book has chapters organized under three sections: Foundations of Coaching, Building Blocks, and Leading Change. Each chapter is written by experts in leadership, such as Brian Tracy, James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner, and Beverly Kaye.
